BBEC has introduced a new careers programme and leadership structure for this academic year. This is led by Joe Ryan (Assistant Headteacher – Student Experience), who brings a wealth of experience, expertise and skills to the role.

YEAR 7​​

All Year 7 students will receive the following core offer during this academic year:

​

• Period 1 (tutorial) programme, including regular links to careers and future aspirations;
• Two dedicated Careers Weeks, with a focus delivered through Period 3 and assemblies. These take place during the autumn and summer terms.

​

In addition, students will benefit from bespoke events featuring expert speakers from outside school, who will provide further careers information, advice and guidance. During Science Week, there will also be a focus on careers linked to STEM subjects, helping to inspire students and develop a sense of awe and wonder about future opportunities.

Year 7 students will also develop connections with careers through the University Passport Programme¹ and the interlinked BBEC Academies Programme.

All of our careers provision is mapped against the CDI Framework² to ensure the highest quality of planning, outcomes and impact for our students.

YEAR 8

​

​All Year 8 students will receive the following core offer during this academic year:

• Two dedicated Careers Weeks, with a focus delivered through Period 3 and assemblies. These take place during the autumn and summer terms.

In addition, there will be bespoke events involving expert speakers from outside school, who will provide additional careers information, advice and guidance. During Science Week in March, there will also be a focus on careers linked to a range of STEM subjects, inspiring students and introducing a sense of awe and wonder about future opportunities.

Year 8 students will also receive specific guidance to support them in making their option choices for Year 9, helping to ensure they are on appropriate pathways towards their future education, training and career goals.
