BBEC ALUMNI

In the summer of 2021, we launched our BBEC Alumni which hopes to connect with many of our ex-students, celebrate their achievements and enrich the experiences for our current students. This is the link to join the BBEC Alumni: https://forms.office.com/r/9ExFQPkfH6

To date we have over 200 ex-students registered with the BBEC Alumni and have already begun to see highly successful engagements across the school. During science week in April, we welcomed into school three of our Alumni.

Bradley spoke to our Year 7 students about the positive experiences of studying for his degree in Physiotherapy at Bradford University, enjoying opportunities to travel and setting-up the hugely successful Physiotherapy Podcast.

Mollie Nero spoke to our Year 8 and Year 11 students about her achievements in science, gaining a first-class Master’s Degree in Chemistry and Huddersfield University and now employed at Broughton as a research chemist. Mollie was a fantastic ambassador for the promotion of women and girls in science.

Finally, and by no means least, Jake Rooney talked to our Y10 students about the huge impact Science and STEM has had on his career. Whilst studying A-levels at Greenhead College he has found the time to support the STEM Academy at BBEC, every week helping the LEGO Robotics team prepare for the LEGO League competitions. This year the team, for the first time ever, they won through the regional heat and reached the National Final in Harrogate. Jake is now looking towards University in September, possibly at Oxford or Cambridge to study mathematics and Languages.

Our ambition is to continually grow the alumni network to allow it to further support events inside of school, particularly around school priorities and enriching our provisions.

Anybody interested in BBEC Alumni can register on the form about or contact Mr Ryan (Assistant Headteacher on joseph.ryan@BBEC.bdat-academies.org).
