Welcome to Buttershaw.

It is a privilege and a delight to be the headteacher of Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College; it is a school that puts the individual student at the heart of all its endeavours and strives to ensure that every young person is safe, happy and successful.  As part of the Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust (BDAT) we are committed to inclusion and achievement for all and are able to achieve our goals through utilising a powerful network of Bradford Schools with the same ambition.

Our brilliant £26 million building is a significant investment in the school and the South Bradford community and has allowed us to transform learning with new opportunities, new facilities and new technologies. The curriculum is truly exciting and innovative with courses for all abilities, from the university bound to those with additional learning needs.

We are truly proud of our inclusive approach and our commitment to see every child reach his or her potential. We have a particular focus on employability skills and this is central both to our Futures Learning Partnership with local primary schools and to our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) strategy which includes the prestigious Centre for Emerging Sciences, Engineering & Technology (CESET) based at the University of Bradford and also including support from major local businesses.

Pastoral care is a priority and we ensure that all students are known and cared for, whatever their aspirations and talents. We rightly have a growing local reputation for the quality of our work in this area. Above all, we place an emphasis on developing appropriate attitudes and skills for adult life. We do this by a commitment to teaching and modelling the key values we all know are important: compassion, integrity, justice, wisdom and ambition. I and all my staff are determined to do our very best for your child: we should love to have that opportunity to work in partnership with you.

If you feel it necessary, please arrange an appointment to visit the school and talk to us so we are able to share our vision with you.
