PE

Department Profile

The PE department consists of four full time members of staff and one part time member of staff who are all committed to and enthusiastic about the delivery of high quality Physical Education.

Curriculum Overview

  • Core PE is taught to single sex groups throughout Years 7-11. Students are taught a wide range of practical activities and receive a broad and balanced curriculum each year. This allows all students to be successful and make progress throughout their time at Buttershaw.
  • BTEC Sport is offered as an option at Level 2. This is proving to be a successful course.
  • At Level 3, we offer the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma. Outstanding results have been achieved over a number of years.

Outside of the Classroom

A wide range of extra-curricular practical activities are on offer throughout the year. These include both fun, leisure activities and also competitive sports, in which teams are play against other schools in local and national competitions. The extra-curricular provision gives students the opportunity to further develop their skills and take part in activities they particularly enjoy.
