Key stage 3

Year 7

As soon as our students join BBEC we encourage them to start thinking about their future careers and the pathways to access them.

All year 7 students will receive a core offer during this academic year of:

  • Careers integrated into the period 3(tutorial) programme;
  • Three dedicated careers weeks with a focus through period 3 and assemblies. These take place once per term;
  • Two dedicated enterprise weeks also with a focus through period 3 and assemblies;
  • Enterprise activity;
  • University passport;
  • An introduction to careers and informative resources are always available in the careers hub within the school library and the school’s VLE, Moodle.

In addition, there will be bespoke events including expert industry and motivational speakers delivering additional labour market information and skills gaps information.

Year 8

In year 8 we help students to start making decisions about their future by providing guidance on their GCSE choices to ensure they are on the appropriate career pathway.

  • Careers integrated into the period 3(tutorial) programme
  • Three dedicated careers weeks with a focus through period 3 and assemblies. These take place once per term.
  • Two dedicated enterprise weeks also with a focus through period 3 and assemblies;
  • Enterprise activity;
  • University passport;
  • An introduction to careers and informative resources are always available in the careers hub within the school library and the school’s VLE, Moodle.

Year 9

In year 9 we continue the programme of CEIAG established in KS3.

  • Careers integrated into the period 3(tutorial) programme;
  • Three dedicated careers weeks with a focus through period 3 and assemblies. These take place once per term;
  • Two dedicated enterprise weeks also with a focus through period 3 and assemblies;
  • An introduction to careers and informative resources are always available in the careers hub within the school library and the school’s VLE, Moodle;
  • Enterprise activity;
  • DEC and an extra-curricular careers club.

In addition, there will be bespoke events including expert industry and motivational speakers delivering additional labour market information and skills gaps information.
