BBEC’s on-going support and fundraising efforts for both of these worthy causes featured in an article in the Telegraph and Argus on 20th June 2017:
BBEC at OBOB – One Bradford One Band
Over the course of the last school year, 12 BBEC students have been taking part in an exciting music project, the aim of which was to bring together students from different schools to celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Bradford through the medium of live music.
The “OBOB” (One Bradford One Band) project has been an ongoing collaboration between BBEC, Bradford Music service, Belle View Girls School, Beckfoot Upper Heaton and international composer Tim Steiner. Drawing on their own cultural and musical backgrounds and experiences, students worked collaboratively to compose a range of material which they then rehearsed extensively throughout the school year. Students then showcased the fruits of their labour at numerous performances – these included a show at Bradford’s prestigious Alhambra theatre and a main stage slot at BBC Music Day in Bradford’s city park.
Both students and Staff involved in the project were extremely proud of their achievements and are hopeful that the project will continue to move forward and flourish in years to come. BBEC featured on the BBC iPlayer on the Gayle Lofthouse show – our students are playing the in background at 1hr 48 mins – which can be found here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0541ntk
